Do Legal Permanent Residents Get Social Security At Retirement?

Wondering if a person who is a legal permanent resident in the US will get social security benefits when they retire? I tried to find it on the social security website but it was all legal talk. The legal alien if from the UK. Thanks.

  Yes, as long as the legal alien has worked and paid into the social security system for 40 quarters (or ten years), he is eligible for social security benefits based on his earnings record when he reaches retirement age.
