1st: get a copy of McAffee Clean Sweep or equivalent. Deleted files just get the address wiped out. The file is still there unless you write over it, which Clean Sweep does. Also, when you go on the internet, sites place "Cookies" on your PC, which by definition are text files placed on your HD without your knowledge or permission. Unfortunately, our court system is not up on these facts, and have held you are responsible for anything found on your computer. Again, Clean Sweep will clean cookies and registers.
2nd: install spyware. Make sure your firewall is on. This will stop alot, but not all intrusions.
3rd:Never keep personal info on your Hard Drive. Use an USB drive or other removable storage device. Hackers can enter any computer and look at your files, change them, etc. Remove the file storage before going on the internet.
4th: I recommend formating the Hard Drive and reinstalling your OS and programs every 6 months. It will improve efficiency, remove unwanted trojans and spyware.
