    start off read up on viruses and hackers, learn about sites that may have these viruses. hackers are always waiting for schools kids looking for ways to download free songs, free software, free ect.they sit in the back ground with their viruses and tricks waiting for un suspecting ppl to go to certain sites and start the free downloading.having knowledge on these problems is a start of knowing how to keep your computer safe. second have all the updates for your windows version. third have a good anti virus program on your computer and running in the back ground. free ones are ok, but i use the paid ones, this way if and when you have a software problem, you can talk live with a tech for assistance. unlike the free software you have to wait until you get a response by email from a person that you really do not know if they are a tech. paid subscription is always the best way to go.

    1-Window Update
    go to start>all programs>window update. make sure you have all the security update and high priority update from microsoft.
    2-Firewall
    alway on.
    3-avg anti virus a free and good 1
    alway runing
    4- use firefox
    as ur brower 90% more safe
