Yes this dude is a major pain in the butt. What you need to do is to get it to pop up again. If I am guessing correctly this is most likely Name anti-virus 2008 or 2009. either way.
What you do is get it to pop up and then right click on it to get a drop down menu. Choose properties and copy the url.
Now go to your START button and click on it and choose RUN.
Type in REGEDIT and click OK
This brings up the registry.
In the top of the box click on edit and choose find.
Paste the address you copied to the box and click OK.
Thsi will take you to the place in the registry where the file for the virus is located. DELETE this entry.
Now go back to EDIT again and click FIND NEXT this will bring up the next instance where it is located.
Continue this process until the registry is cleared of all entries.
Restart the system and the virus should be gone.
SmitFraud has become a term to mean an infection where fake security alerts appear in your taskbar stating that you are infected. These alerts tend to be accompanied by a rogue anti-spyware program installed on your computer without your consent. Clicking on one of these fake security alerts will either bring you to a home page where you can purchase other fraudulent software or will install automatically, without your permission, one of these software.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t…http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant…http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware…

I had to manually update my anti virus program due to a similar condition.
The virus infected my Google files initially so I renamed the file extensions which rendered files and virus inactive.
Additionally the virus would not let me delete the files (write protected).
Once my AVG was updated it routed out the virus.
Free versions and expired anti virus programs will not always work.
