Is Peer Guardian 2 Really Safe,secure And Efficient?

Q1) Since Peer Guardian 2 is developed thru open source,could hackers use it to explore its weakness and compromise our system?
Q2) It protect @ kernel level,is it even more dangerous if some1 manage to hack its code and meddle with our O.S kernel?
Q3)What other ways to stop officials/spyware from spying on us if we are using torrent or other downloading stuff?
